As promised, here is the first update on my journey of making money online. My site, which happens to deal with the best mens cologne is now a little over a month old.
So far, I'm still holding my page 1 rankings for my keywords, which are best mens cologne and best mens cologne 2011. As you can see from this blog post, it's my anchor text link back to the site. In fact, that was also the purpose of making this blog to discuss making money online...to be able to throw anchor text backlinks to the site!
Ok, now let's delve into how the site has fared as far as traffic.
According to my hosting statistics, I received over 1200 visitors to the site. Which to me, made me ecstatic! In fact, I watched the traffic steadily increase over the course of the month. And when it decreased, it usually was on account of google jostling the site around.
When that would happen, I would start doing some more backlinking to push it back up. Just like most making money online course tell you. What they don't tell you is that it's tedious and mind numbing work.
And for the most part, in most courses they tell you to outsource this kind of work. But for now, since this operation is being run on a shoestring, outsourcing is just not an option yet.
Now, for the next part of the update on making money online. The site actually generated income! Not a lot, but it did make sales. The next part is tweaking where I send my click thrus. Right now, I'm sending them to Amazon. That may change. We shall see how the conversions are this month. Last month, it was a little over 5%. Not the greatest, but certainly not the worst.
That I will work on improving, maybe changing where my link goes. I will keep you updated on that.
All in all, not a bad start though. This making money online stuff isn't as difficult as many would have you believe.
