The Journey Of Making Money Online -Update
As promised, here is the first update on my journey of making money online. My site, which happens to deal with the best mens cologne is now a little over a month old.
So far, I'm still holding my page 1 rankings for my keywords, which are best mens cologne and best mens cologne 2011. As you can see from this blog post, it's my anchor text link back to the site. In fact, that was also the purpose of making this blog to discuss making money online...to be able to throw anchor text backlinks to the site!
Ok, now let's delve into how the site has fared as far as traffic.
According to my hosting statistics, I received over 1200 visitors to the site. Which to me, made me ecstatic! In fact, I watched the traffic steadily increase over the course of the month. And when it decreased, it usually was on account of google jostling the site around.
When that would happen, I would start doing some more backlinking to push it back up. Just like most making money online course tell you. What they don't tell you is that it's tedious and mind numbing work.
And for the most part, in most courses they tell you to outsource this kind of work. But for now, since this operation is being run on a shoestring, outsourcing is just not an option yet.
Now, for the next part of the update on making money online. The site actually generated income! Not a lot, but it did make sales. The next part is tweaking where I send my click thrus. Right now, I'm sending them to Amazon. That may change. We shall see how the conversions are this month. Last month, it was a little over 5%. Not the greatest, but certainly not the worst.
That I will work on improving, maybe changing where my link goes. I will keep you updated on that.
All in all, not a bad start though. This making money online stuff isn't as difficult as many would have you believe.

Credibility In Marketing
Son of a gun if this doesn't just make me want to write about. I was going through my email and I stumbled across one from a gentleman who up to that point I thought had some credibility.
Sheesh..was I wrong! Granted, we all know that email marketing for many is a bread & butter type of business. The sad reality is that many of these people who send us mail must think we were born last night!
So here is the gist of the email...he was selling a website he created 10 days ago for a camera. A Product name website to be exact. And went on to say how easy it would be to get it ranked.
What he neglected to say is that the main search term would be competing with over 6million pages. Are You Fu***** kidding me?????
But, someone who might NOT know any better, or someone who might be a newbie to the internet marketing world would but that and experience nothing but failure...
Damn...how do some of these people sleep at night?
OK..Just had to get that off my mind before heading to bed.

Where My Journey Starts..Think You Really Want To Know?
I'm starting this blog for a few different reasons, but one of the reasons is the hope that people who might be wanting to learn about internet marketing , stop by and take a read.
Why? Well...maybe I'm just a bit tired of the crap that gets shoved down our throats on a daily basis from marketers who have discovered the "Next Big Thing".
What burns me is that just the week before they were telling me that some other product "from a very good friend" was the "Next Big Thing"!
Yikes! So who the fook do you really believe?
Well, that's the hard part. But If you hang in there with me, I'll pull back the curtains and help you along the way.
Ya see, for the very first time I've started to experience just a teeny weeny bit of success online.....and I really haven't purchased anything like one of those so called..."Magic Bullet" courses.
OK, ok...I'm getting off track here.
For those of you that want to start making some money online....here is exactly what I did. And this is No Bulldoodie!
First of all, I started to write. I went to a forum....Its called Digital Point..and started answering the ads that were posted in the "create content" section.
Took a bit of time...but I finally found a few customers.
With this money, yeah...go figure..they even paid me!...I purchased a domain and hosting for a month. That was my Christmas present to me! Damn...I really splurged!
So now I'm officially engaged in making money online. Whoooo Hoooooo!!!!!
The market I chose was one that should be around for a long time. And actually I ripped off the idea when I looked at a site and lightbulbs started going off.
Now, just so you know....I've stumbled in previous attempts. Oh yeah..and Ive got the scars to prove it to.
But this time...I actually started DOING..instead of worrying about if what I was doing would be right. (Hint...Quit The Crap..and Just DO!!!!)
I put up a blog...No..Not this one.....and started doing some of the things that I've been reading about. You know the drill....getting backlinks...social bookmarking...the whole nine yards.
And lo and behold...Google has me on page 1...for 2 of my chosen keywords.
And just so you know....I'm competing with just about a million pages.
Am I tootin my own horn?...Yeah..Just a bit.
But as this journey unfolds about making money online...I'm gonna tell you everything that I'm doing...how I'm doing it...and the results that I'm getting.
No bullshit...just the facts Jack!
Here..you can even take a look at the simple little site I made....it deals with men and the best mens cologne 2011
I used wordpress...and I still have stuff to do to it to make it look even nicer..but..that will come.
And I was able to get the site indexed rather quickly...by making one post..and using a forum to create a signature file with my keywords in it. Oh the forum was also Digital Point.
Nothing fancy..nothing complicated..but it worked.
So, I've most likely have you bored to tears at this point, and with that said..we'll end it here for the day.
